Thoughts and an update from week 2 of our GR1 hike across Spain. Almost 200km inland, we have reached the foot of the high country.
Week 1 of our walk across Spain on the GR1 ‘Sendero Historico’. In 6 days we have ascended from the blazing Coastal plain to into the deep woods of the lonely Sierra Garrotxa.
Camped on the Mediterranean coast and poised to begin the GR1, we are tired from travel and frazzled from planning, but the ideals behind the journey are still intact. A final review of thoughts before the long walk west.
In a last effort to get our rucksack weights down we had to scrutinize each item and had to make some hard choices. The result was a fresh view of our kit and hitting our 9kg target baseweight!
Hiking is only part of the picture. We have planned a number of mini-projects to make the most of our time on the GR1 this spring.
With only a week to go before we leave for Spain to begin the GR1 there’s still loads to do and a few lingering concerns…
